Therapy for Young Adults

Supportive In-Person Therapy San Diego, California

Navigating young adulthood is complex. There are decisions to make, relationships to nurture, and questions about values and identity along the way. For many, this season of life can bring up feelings of overwhelm, fear, and uncertainty. Maybe you’re confused about the next steps in your life, or noticing patterns in your relationships. Perhaps you tend to overthink things, or feel pressure to do things “right.”

Therapy can help.

It may feel impossible to find solid footing in this season, but you can feel confident in your ability to make aligned decisions, navigate various relationships, and live a life that feels meaningful.

Therapy helps you do three things:

  1. Identify the root causes of distress you’re experiencing, so you can feel clear on the why behind your feelings. This gives us a map to move forward.

  2. Increase self-compassion and your ability to hold and connect to all parts of yourself with a sense of acceptance.

  3. Allow for alignment and congruence in your values, identity, relationships and decisions for the present and future. So you can feel ease and confidence as you actively engage in your life.

Specialties

Starting College/Moving Away

Leaving home for the first time can be a jarring experience. There is a lot to learn about yourself in this transition. Many folks experience stress around the start of college. I can support you in this transition, to find solid footing in a new space and new season of your life.

High Achievers

Do you feel pressure to always be doing, going and working toward a goal? While this can be celebrated in our culture it can also lead to massive burn out. I support high achievers in maintaining ambition while also making space for rest and ease

Perfectionism

Have you noticed that your self worth is tied to your performance? Do you feel like you’re on a hamster wheel of perfectionism— always striving for “the best?” Working in therapy to untangle your worth from performance can lead to less stress, more alignment, and greater empowerment.

Are you feeling unsure about the decisions in your life? Do you have a hard time tuning into what you truly want? This uncertainty can cause a great deal of anxiety. I can support you in realigning with your wants, needs, and values. From this place, decisions become clearer.

Decision Making

I’ll help you through this process. Tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to therapy for young adults comes from a belief that you have an innate ability to build more capacity and ease in to your life. I can help you access your authentic self which in turn creates more security, safety and self-assurance.

You don’t have to life a life feeling anxiety, worry and overwhelm. A life of confidence and presence is possible.

I can help you get there.

I typically recommend that new clients come to therapy weekly for 6-8 sessions in order to build momentum in the therapeutic journey. After that we will talk about the frequency that would be best for you and your situation. I see clients weekly, biweekly and monthly depending on needs.

How do I get started? What’s the first step?

Start by reaching out to schedule a consultation. We will have a 15-20 minute conversation about your needs and goals for therapy. If we decide that it’s a good fit we will move forward in scheduling an initial session.
